![]() There has been no word as if aim is blocking 3rd party toc clients, but I wish the devs would actually say something about this, or get with reality and develop a plugin that uses the oscar protocol. The devs have said absolutely nothing on the subject, and people are still claiming that its aol's fault, not miranda, when aim express (based on the toc protocol last i heard) works fine. Miranda thinks its online, but no buddy list is being pulled. Now for some reason the aim plugin does not work. therefore my decision remains to stick with trillian (because its friendly)įor some reason, miranda developers decided that using a old and limited protocol like toc would be a good idea. On further inspection, mirandas logo is much less friendly than the proposed trillian v.3 logo. thanks guysĮDIT: miranda huh? imma have to check that out as well. So i think i'll stick with trill as the preferred client. and the explanation is fantastic (and very thorough) That is the best logo i've ever seen in my entire life. How about v.3 to v.5? winamp had some great reasonings behind their jump but i guess its been long enough to where they've taken them down.Ĭheck out the AWESOME new logo for Basic v3. Version 0.74 (Basic) to 3.0? That's worse than 4.7 to 6. I just found out that they are working on Trillian v3. (except when the usual shinanigans were taking place b/t the big boys and trill) #Trillian skin proI've never had a connection prob with my pro version. i was being lazy and asking for others that have already put it thru the works. There's nothing stopping you from trying out Gaim yourself if you haven't already.Įxcept that i love trill - View image here: - but good point. Now it's been some time, so I admit that it has probably gotten better since the middle of last year(last time I tried it). #Trillian skin installIcons would not install even though I followed the directions, sounds were a lost cause, and there weren't a whole lot of options to cofigure functionality it seemed. ![]() Once that was done, it was a total pain to configure the gui, and I never did make it through that. I was just using a standard install, but it took all sorts of fucking around for them to actually connect. #Trillian skin windowsI have never sucessfully gotten it to connect to any service under windows easily, (had better luck under linux). I have tried gaim, and have found it lacking for many reasons. I love the interface customizability of miranda, the large amount of useful plug-ins (trillian has a few, but a lot of resources went into useless things like playing chess and shit like that), and the general small footprint. I currently use miranda, and since they decided to go with the el cheapo toc protocol for aim, no one can connect to the service as either the toc servers are down, or (more likely) aim has changed the login method, so I am frustrated with the lack of response from the miranda developers on this subject. #Trillian skin softwareTrillian is a great piece of software (better than gaim as far as customizablility is concerned), but I can't stomach the attitude of cerulean studios towards their customers. The developers and the moderators of the forum started copping an attitude when their paying customers complained about it, and the fact that the moderators started locking any thread about it, and banning people who complained too loudly just turned me off. The software required you to authenticate with a trillian server every time you started the software, but those authtentication servers were always down. ![]() But then the whole phone home controversy hit with 2.0. I frequented the forums, tried out new plug-ins and skins, and generally felt my 25 dollars for pro was well spent. ![]()
